Step-by-Step: How to Place a Sports Bet at Maxim88

This is the most important how-to guide on this site. Follow these 8 steps to place your first bet — from logging in to confirming your wager. Last updated: April 2026

Before you start:
  • You must have a registered Maxim88 account — Register here
  • Your account must have funds — minimum MYR 20 via DuitNow. Deposit guide
  • You must be 18 years or older

8 Steps to Place Your First Sports Bet

1

Log In to Your Maxim88 Account

Go to the Maxim88 website and click "Login" in the top right corner. Enter your username and password. If you have 2FA enabled, complete the verification step. If you're not yet registered, create a free account here.

2

Check Your Wallet Balance

After logging in, your MYR wallet balance is shown in the top navigation bar. If your balance is MYR 0, you need to make a deposit before you can bet. Minimum deposit is MYR 20 via DuitNow. See the full deposit guide.

3

Navigate to the Sports Section

Click "Sports" in the main navigation menu. The sports betting section loads, showing you the available sportsbook providers at the top of the page: CMD368, MAXBET, BTi-Sports and Saba Sports.

4

Select Your Sportsbook Provider

This is an important step unique to Maxim88. You have four providers to choose from:

ProviderBest For
CMD368Best all-round choice. 30+ sports, 1% rebate, live streaming. Recommended for beginners
MAXBETHighest betting limits. Virtual sports. Good for high-stakes bettors.
BTi-SportsBest for horse racing. 40+ sports, 120 countries coverage.
Saba SportsSharpest odds on Asian football and local Malaysian leagues.
5

Choose Your Sport and Match

In the left sidebar of the sportsbook interface, browse by sport. Click "Football" (or your preferred sport). Then select a league — for example, English Premier League. The page expands to show all available upcoming matches for that league.

6

Read the Odds and Select Your Market

Each match displays odds for different markets (Asian Handicap, Over/Under, 1X2 etc.). Odds are shown in decimal format by default on most providers. A higher decimal number means a longer-priced outcome (bigger potential payout, lower probability). Click on the specific odds you want to bet — it highlights and adds to your bet slip on the right. See our Odds Explained guide for full details on reading odds.

7

Enter Your Stake in the Bet Slip

In the bet slip (right side of the screen), type the amount you want to stake in MYR. The bet slip automatically calculates your potential winnings based on the odds. Example: If you bet MYR 100 on odds of 1.90, your potential payout is MYR 190 (profit of MYR 90). Never stake more than 3–5% of your total bankroll on a single bet.

8

Review and Confirm Your Bet

Before clicking confirm, check: the correct match is selected, the correct market is shown, the odds match what you intended, and the stake amount is right. Click "Confirm Bet" or "Place Bet". You will receive a confirmation screen with a unique bet ID. Screenshot or note this ID for your records.

Understanding Your Bet After Placing

After your bet is confirmed, you can track it in the "My Bets" or "Bet History" section of your Maxim88 account. Bets show as:

  • Pending — the match has not yet finished
  • Won — your selection was correct, winnings credited to your wallet
  • Lost — your selection was incorrect, stake forfeited
  • Push/Void — the bet is refunded (e.g. match cancelled, Asian Handicap exactly on the line)

Winnings are automatically credited to your Maxim88 wallet as soon as the result is confirmed. Most results are settled within minutes of the match finishing.

Common Beginner Mistakes to Avoid

  • Not reading the odds format — ensure you're reading decimal odds, not confusing them with Malay odds
  • Betting without understanding the market — Asian Handicap requires more understanding than 1X2
  • Staking too much — never bet more than 5% of your bankroll on a single bet
  • Ignoring live odds changes — odds on live bets change fast; always confirm before submitting
  • Forgetting to check bonus restrictions — some bonuses have wagering requirements that affect which bets count
  • Chasing losses — if you lose a bet, resist the urge to immediately double your next stake
