Table Tennis Betting Tips at Maxim88
Table tennis is one of the sports most susceptible to match-fixing concerns internationally, so always bet on reputable tier-one events — ITTF and WTT Grand Smash events — rather than obscure lower-tier tournaments. Here are five specific tips for table tennis betting at Maxim88:
- Research Chinese player form carefully: Chinese table tennis dominates the world rankings, but individual players have peaks and valleys within seasons. ITTF and WTT results within the past 8 weeks are the most predictive of current form.
- Back live underdogs after they take the first set: In table tennis, a lower-ranked player who wins the first set against a top-10 opponent does not always lose the match — they have demonstrated they can compete at that level on that day. Live odds on the underdog often remain too high after they take the opening set, creating a value window.
- Bet on total sets for close matchups: When two players in the top 20 meet at a premier event, matches tend to go long. Over on total sets provides value in these competitive brackets, especially from the quarter-final stage onwards.
- Avoid betting on unfamiliar lower-tier events: Stay focused on WTT Grand Smash and ITTF World Championships where match integrity is at its highest. For competitive integrity and market efficiency, these flagship events provide the safest betting environment.

Set betting lets you predict the exact set score outcome — for example, a 4-2 win in a best-of-7 match. It pays higher odds than match winner because it requires predicting both the winner and number of sets played.
Yes. Table tennis live betting is available via CMD368 at Maxim88 with odds updating in real time between points and games. Table tennis is one of the fastest-paced live betting sports.
Table tennis is deeply embedded in Asian sporting culture, with China, Japan and South Korea producing the world's top players. The sport runs year-round with frequent WTT and ITTF events, providing near-continuous betting opportunities.
Handicap betting gives the weaker player a virtual points advantage. A -3.5 game handicap on the favourite means they must win by 4 or more games for the bet to succeed. This evens the playing field for one-sided matchups.
